Comic Day 10/28/2009 (A Day Late).

I've been playing Forza 3 since Tuesday, took a break from it to go to go get the comic and then stopped by my buddy's house to see the limited edition of the game, and that's when I saw I've got some catching up to do to by buddy. He's at driver level 20 and I'm at 17 earlier tonight. So yeah, I've been sidetracked a bit. OK, so lets get this show going.

Oh, and I still plan to talk about Uncharted 2 later. That will be a good time to talk about some games I've been playing and look forward to playing down the road.

If it isn't one thing, it's another.

Yesterday I decided to drive my Monte Carlo down to Wal-Mart to buy Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (more on that game some other time). I don't drive as much as I should, but it seems every time I do drive it I am reminded of all the small things that need to be fixed. That or something else goes wrong. And this time it was the window tint and the A/C. I rolled the windows down at the house and when I rolled them up once getting to Wal-Mart, the passenger side glass' tint at the bottom of the glass peeled up a bit. Great, something else to fix. And on top of that for whatever reason the A/C isn't blowing cold, again.

The car is awesome, I think so at least, but I don't drive it as often as I would like because instead of the enjoyment I used to get from driving it I get the feeling of "what's going to break next." The car is only 9 years old, being a 2000 year model, yet being heavily modified is taking it's toll. I do mean heavily, I can tell you what is still stock quicker than I can what has been changed in some way or another. With so much done to the car I question when I will be done with it. Right when I think I have things taken care of, something else pops up saying "fix me." It has pushed me to my limits at times, causing me to say some very nasty things about the car and wanting to just get rid of it. But I eventually remember all the great times I've had with it and how much money I would basically lose if I did sell it. Selling it isn't even an option honestly. There's too much time, money and effort in it to do such a nutty thing. That and I get attached to cars.

The comic post will come tomorrow.

Brutal Legend & Comic Day 10/14/2009.

First off I want to talk about Brutal Legend. I would have talked about it yesterday, but I was too busy rocking out and kicking ass to do so. The game is full of metal greatness in every aspect you can think of. From big name musicians to heavy tracks to the most rockin' imagery to the badass of the badass of characters. As it has been called before by the games creator, Tim Schaffer, it's a love letter to metal. It is as if the covers to your favorite hard hitting metal album covers has come to life. No longer does one have to dream or do the drugs of rockers to see what it would be like if metal was the basis of everything in the world. In Brutal Legend you play as Eddie Riggs, the worlds greatest roadie, who has the misfortune of working for a band that is the result of metal going mainstream. Eddie is transported to the world of metal when after saving a member of said band, a piece of the stage falls on top of him crushing him to death and his blood drips into his belt buckle. This causes the beast, Ormagoden, to be summoned, and all hell breaks loose once it arrives. From there you go about learning of the new world Eddie now finds himself in.

The game is just awesome, even if metal isn't your thing. Anyone that plays it and pays attention will clearly be able to tell that a lot of care went into the creation of it. Brutal Legend is the kind of game that only comes around every so often, it's different from everything else out there, it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside the way the first time you heard the music you knew you were going to listen to for the rest of your life. I'd like to think that this kind of game could only be made for the metal genre. That metal fans are the most loyal and diehard fans of any music genre and that is why this happened with metal. Of course that's completely biased on my part, but I don't think you'll ever see a country, pop, rap, jazz, rock, blues or any other genre of music fan willing to go to the lengths of devotion that a metal fan will defending their favorite band/musician. Really, you don't tell a metalhead that his/her band sucks without the real chance of them bringing out the physical violence on you in a heartbeat.

OK, I'm going to make the rest of this quick, I want to get back to playing Brutal Legend.

Spark plug swap and other comic shelf.

A few days ago my neighbor dropped off the other comic box shelf. Yesterday I got it in the house and in it's place. No pictures of the painting process this time around, nothing was done different so that's a bit pointless. Here's pictures of it in place though.

Today I finally walked out to the shop and swapped the plugs out on the GN. Last time I drove it there was some misfiring going on. So, I parked it in the shop intending to get some plugs for it. Picked those up this past Wed. Well, from what the plugs have told me the car has been running rich as hell. Also, I found that the plug on cylinder number 1 was loose. Alright, I had the plugs swapped so time to take it for a spin to check things out, nope. A dead battery said otherwise. So I dragged out the battery charger, got that going and came back in the house. An hour later I go back out to the shop and fire it up. Started right up but I noticed the idle was off. "Damn, did I forget something?" I thought to myself. And sure enough I had, poked my head around the door and look at the engine bay to see the plug wire to cylinder number 1 just sitting there arcing off the body, whoops (if you look closely you can see it unpluged in the picture below). I cut the car back off, plug the wire in, started it back up, pulled it out of the shop and locked up.

To make sure it was really good to go I had to take it for a spin, quite literally. Drove down to the end of the road I live on and decided to check on the limited-slip diff. Yep, it still works, I knew it would, but yeah.... this car is too much fun not to play with when I get the chance. After that I looked down and saw there wasn't much fuel with the needle reading some where between empty and a quarter tank. "Might as well put a few bucks in it while I'm at it." I said to myself. I get to the gas station and put $6 bucks of 93 in and that's when I noticed I forgot to put the new license sticker on. Once I got back to the house I went in, grabbed the sticker and registration card, locked back up, slapped the sticker on and went for another drive. The car did alright, no real major issues except it wants to stall when I come completely off the gas pedal. Just about cuts off, actually did once, but that's fine, the car is running right again or close enough. When I pulled back onto my road heading home I decided to check that limited-slip one more time. The results of that check are below.

I am going to miss this car when it goes. It was rough the day I bought it and it'll still be rough the day it's sold, but in all the time I've owned it it's been more fun than it probably should have been. That's all this time around, today was fun.

Comic Day 10/07/2009.

Was a pretty light week this week. Still no bags & boards as well. On the bright side my copy of Gunsmith Cats Burst volume 4 came in and Jack of Fables volume 6 came out too.

Cable #19
Astonishing X-Men #31
Amazing Spider-Man #608
Secret Warriors: The List One Shot
Black Panther #9
Deadpool #16
DareDevil #501
Ghost Riders Heaven's on Fire #3 of 5

Jack of Fables TPB volume 6
Gunsmith Cats Burst volume 4

In other news, I took care of my battery ground issue on the Camaro. Past few times I've taken the Camaro out it's given me trouble when cranking. Acted like it had a dead battery. It basically did, but not because of a charging or bad battery issue. The body ground was just to small of a wire. So, while I was out at the theater (saw Zombieland, it was awesome) getting ready to leave, it left me stranded. I got a jump after a call to family and I was on my way back home with it.

Today after I got back from Greenville getting the comics I stopped by O'Reilly's and grabbed a pair of new battery terminals and a ground strap. Picked up a set of plugs for the Gran National too, but that's for a later date. Anyways, here's the results.
