Another delayed Comic Day...

I'm a slacker these days when it comes to this damn thing. My excuse? I've been busy just trying to get things organized again. I must say, it isn't hard, but it isn't much fun sitting on the floor bagging, boarding, taping closed and boxing comics. Especially when you want them in alphabetically order, or close enough so you can easily find a comic should the rare need ever arise.

There's also all the anime I'm trying to put back on shelves. Since I'm moving it all over into the library room, I don't have enough shelves. So a large chunk of it is just sitting on top of some short bookcases until I can order some more shelves. I'll also need to put them on the opposite wall since I don't want to block the air vents and move the comic shelves as well. Maybe that's confusing, but it'll all make sense eventually if I ever get around to getting things put in their place again.

Anyways... lets see if I can get back on track here.

S.H.I.E.L.D. #4 & #5

No reason for these two to be separated like this, just forgot to group them with the others. I've been putting off reading S.H.I.E.L.D. for awhile and without thinking I had already put these over into the library room for cataloging.

Yeah, check this out, the library room is a mess and I've got a lot of heavy lifting to do to move the comics to the other wall and the anime to the other wall.

At the front of this picture is where I've been cataloging comics. The half of a computer chair is not where I've been sitting. I've been sitting where the chair is in the pic, on the floor, with the chair in front of me holding my laptop so I can watch Ranma 1/2 while cataloging.

In the above pic you can see the AC vent that's next to the first anime shelf. The plan is to get another two shelves the size of that shelf and line all of them up against the opposite wall. Because if I try to fit that many shelves on the wall the anime is on now, the AC vents will end up being blocked by the shelves.

Like I said, a siazable chunk sitting on some short bookcases.

Comics that need to be moved to the opposite wall.

More comics and another view of the yet to be shelved anime.

Then there's all the anime figures and other various statues and such I need to unpack and set up again. There's still a lot of work to do, but in the end the room should look pretty damn cool, well as cool as a room to cause nerdgasms can be. At least all that damn painting is done.

And beyond the 19 comics that I picked up this week, The Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck Companion was a large contributing factor to this being such an expensive week.

Oh, and yeah, I'm back in my home. Got back in this past weekend. I don't have a bed, couch, coffee table or any other furniture really, upstairs yet, but I'm working on it. Made a deposit for the red material for the old gold couch and chair today and this entire week I've been going to furniture store after furniture store looking for the perfect pieces. Need to do some more online browsing here and there as well. But hey, it's cool, I'm back in my house, my home, after 6 long months. Just in time too. Fallout: New Vegas has been a blast so far, Fable 3 should be arriving tomorrow and I have Halo Reach sitting over here staring me in the face.

Also, Walking Dead premieres this Sunday. And if the damn cable man can get over here with my HD DVR box I can watch it over and over a few times. Small gripe, was told the swap out for the temp HD box would be done on Monday. Monday comes and goes and the cable man is a no show. It is Wednesday and for the 3rd day I was told he would be here today. Mmmhmm, it's past 7:30PM, I doubt he's still coming today.

Oh well, have to go, time for dinner. I wonder what I'll cook tonight?

Comic Day 10/20/2010.

Aww man, so close to getting back into the house. Few more small things here and there and I can get the hell out of this damn motel room. I'll still have plenty to keep me busy once I do get back into the house, but it'll still be better than living out of a motel room. Aight, well on to the comics.

Justice League of America #50
The Spirit (Firstwave) #7
Batman Beyond #5 of 6
Darkwing Duck #5
Dethklok #1
Night of the Living Dead #1
Kick-Ass 2 #1
Halo Fall of Reach Bootcamp #2 of 4

Punisher Max Tiny Ugly World One-Shot
Chaos War #2 of 5
Hulk #26
DareDevil #511
Deadpool #28
X-Factor #210
X-23 #2
New Mutants #18

OK, on the left we have a Bome Bottle figure of Lum, the Namco exclusive metallic pink hair version to be exact. I got her off of ebay and the sellers description had me thinking it may be a knockoff, but for just $13.50 I was willing to roll the dice on it anyways. From what I can tell she looks to be a figure that didn't pass quality control. She isn't overly damaged or anything serious, with maybe exception to her leg that looks to have some hairline cracks in it. But, beyond that and some tiny places of marred paint, she's fine.

On the right is Fable: The Balverine Order. I admit to only buying this book for the DLC it comes with, but I will read it; no point in owning a book you never read. As for the DLC that comes with it, it's supposedly the Shardbone Sword, a sword made from a shard of the Spire. Hopefully it's a worth while sword, and not just a weapon with an overzealous description.

Next up is The Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck volume 2 hardcover from Boom! Studios. This is one of the best things to come out from Boom!'s acquisition of the licenses to publish a lot of Disney's old comic catalog and upcoming comics. Next month the Companion hardcover should be released.

The last picture here shows the difference between the bookmarks. Volume 1 is on top of 2 (behind it if you were looking at the books head on) and looks more like gold and matches the book better. On mine, the 1st volume's bookmark is also bound much better as it is neat, straight and almost on center. Whereas the 2nd volume's is bound with a fold and closer to the front of the book than the back. A small annoyance, but otherwise the book is absolutely stunning.

When I first heard about Boom! reprinting The Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck I was so hoping they would have done it as a single volume. It would have made for a much more impressive, ad in my opinion, nicer book. It works as two, and I'm happy they reprinted it because it makes getting a copy much easier, for the time being that is. I'm sure this reprinting will eventually become hard to find and start going up in price. So if you're interested, and I would highly recommend the books, pick up yours soon.

In other news, they started moving furniture back into my house today. Holy crap, there's something I thought I wouldn't ever be excited about, I have furniture in my house again. The house repairs are nearing completion with the only major repairs left to finish being the kitchen bay window and foyer. Still needs linoleum in the kitchen, but that simple enough. And the other room upstairs can't be repainted and carpeted until I move everything out of it. But basically, I should finally be moving back in next week. It's only been nearly 6 months.

Also, there's been quite a few anime figures I've picked up over the last month or so and I think I'll do a few reviews on some of them. Pre-ordered the limited edition of Fallout: New Vegas from Gamestop a couple days ago as well. I would have preferred to have bought it from Amazon, but I didn't like the pre-order bonus Amazaon was offering at all. And out of all the places offering pre-order bonuses for the game, Gamestop does have the one I like the most. So while I'm annoyed I missed out on some free shipping and a tax-free purchase, I rather pay the extra $10 and get the content I want. Of course, knowing my luck, all these pre-order bonuses will be unlockable or findable in-game.

Crap, I need to get back to work on the Camaro some time too.
