Comic Day 7/21/2010.

Pretty good week for comics, but I got to the shop late. Missed out on X-Men Legacy and Batman Beyond, going to call the shop tomorrow to see if they'll get anymore in. Also, I had some Best Buy reward zone coupons, one for $20 and another for $30. So I picked up a couple of games too, for real cheap.

Web of Spider-Man #10
Amazing Spider-Man #638
New Avengers #2
Avengers #3
Thunderbolts #146

X-Factor #207
Dark Wolverine #88

The Spirit (FirstWave) #4
Zatanna #3

And here's he games I picked up. I went intending to pick up Crackdown 2, but they didn't have any copies. I started to lean towards Transformers: War for Cybertron, but then after seeing that Bioshock 2 was $40 and Ghostbusters was only $20, two games I have been meaning to pick up anyways, I went with them instead. After the coupons I only paid $10.77 for both games, so that's pretty awesome.

I've been meaning to say something about the Camaro after mentioning it previously. Well, there it is, all torn apart. So far I've removed both fenders and inner fenders and all the items from the front header panel down to the front valance. I took the fenders to a local body shop that deals with a lot of older car stuff. The passenger fender has a pretty nasty rust hole in it. Beyond that though both fenders are in great shape. Done a little cleaning and painting too. Stripped the front of the subframe down to bare metal and painted is with some VHT chassis satin black. Used the same paint on the water pump pulley. Also cleaned up the pump itself with some high heat Chevy engine orange paint.

Once I got the fenders off and got around to really looking at the firewall cowl corners I found some cancer. Bad too, about a 2-3" size hole at the bottom by where the fender bolts to on he driver's side. For now I've cleaned things up and tossed on some flat black primer. I'm not going to worry about fixing the rust right now. It can wait until I really get the body and paint work done.

And that is the aforementioned rust. The stuff is always nasty and never sleeps. Would have been nice if it was solid, but oh well. Once I get the bumper parts and such from the Camaro Barn I'll do a more in depth post about the situation with the Camaro.

Oh, one more thing, decided to finally get around to using the blast cabinet. Well, I should have started using it way sooner. That thing is a huge time and work saver. I decided to use one of the inner fender supports as a test piece. In about 10 minutes or so (probably less) I had it stripped to bare metal and then painted with the same VHT satin black. It looks like a brand new part, which is amazing for a part that is 40+ years old. But it's the only piece I did. After looking things over to make sure everything was alright I found an air leak at the shut off valve the cabinet is connected to. I only noticed it because of the moisture it was pushing out of the leak. Moisture and blasting material does not mix. So until I install that dryer for the system, I only plan to used the cabinet on dry days, which today was not. If nothing else I was able to fix the leak.

Well, that's going to be it until next week.

Akira Vol. 3 - Been anticipating this one for a while now. Wih this I have a complete set of Akira books. I can finally read the manga that was the basis for the movie that got me hooked on to anime.

Eyeshield 21 Vol. 1 - Picked this up in the hopes that it'll be a good substitution for Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit) for the time being. The little bit of the first volume that I read felt a little like the start of Ippo and I found myself chuckling a bit at the humor.

I also picked up the window regulator for the 3000 today. I came home one day to find the window was down on it. At first I though someone had broken it out, but after closer inspection, the regulator had given up on it, dropping the window down. I'm lucky it didn't break the glass. Anyways, now that I have the replacement I can fix it and get the car out of the shop.

Comic Day 7/8/2010, a day late.

Comics were set back by a day because of the 4th of July weekend, UPS observed the 5th. Then, instead of going yesterday I worked on the Camaro. Pics and details on that in a later post. But I will say the car is in pieces.

Alright, onto the pictures, er, well, picture, singular.

Gold Digger Swimsuit #19
Gold Digger #119
Dracula #3 of 4
Fantastic Four Annual #32
Amazing Spider-Man #636
X-Women One-Shot
X-Men #1 Vol. 3
X-Force #28

So yeah, a light week. The new X-Men #1 starts the next big story line for the X-books (even though Second Coming is still running), which is mutants Vs. vampires. Should be fun stuff, since Marvel typically gets vampire right. They know vampires don't fucking sparkle and walk around in the day light without going poof.
